About
I’m Bri, and I’ve been living with autoimmune arthritis since middle school. Along the way, I’ve picked up a lot of tips, stories, and science knowledge that I want to share with others. For example, how does air travel with Humira work? Do biologics increase cancer risk? What’s it like to go to Disney World with arthritis? I don’t have all the answers, but I can share what I’ve learned.
My diagnosis is juvenile spondyloarthritis (ankylosing spondylitis), a type of arthritis that most often affects the spine and large joints (like hips, shoulders, and knees). My arthritis also affects smaller joints like my fingers. I’ve also recently been diagnosed with Behcet’s disease, a rare type of vasculitis that causes severe GI sores, skin sores, and (more) arthritis.
I have a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, and I’m pursuing my PhD. I research how people talk about health and disability in US government.
I speedrun video games as a part of Permastunned Gaming, the world’s first e-sports team made of players with disabilities. If you like retro games or glitchy speedruns, come hang out on Twitch!
